Me Before You

Promising Review: “This movie is amazingly beautiful. The tone and the story are completely perfect in every way. I have seen this movie tons of times and every time it’s simply perfect. The fact that she wrote two sequels to this which ties up the storyline is so good. I recommend watching the movie and then reading the two sequels as they will never put them on film and it’s worth it just to see the life she ends up living.”

Promising Review: “I surprised myself by loving this movie. Normally, I don’t like romantic movies, but this one kept me enthralled and at the end touched my heart so deeply that I found myself with tears running down my face. I highly recommend this movie.”
Tick Tick Boom
Synopsis: On the brink of turning 30, a promising theater composer navigates love, friendship and the pressure to create something great before time runs out. – Based on a true story.
Promising Review: “It was amazing! I cried my eyes out because as an artist you go through the world with big dreams your whole life, as a child you think you can be anything you want to be and that the world is waiting for your greatness. However when you’re an adult still believing in that dream is difficult. You fight and fight for the opportunity to just share all the fun things boiling in your soul. So many people get discouraged and give up on those dreams but Jonathan Larson kept going he kept creating and although he didn’t physically get to see it he watched as an Angel for all these years his fun things being displayed in theatres everywhere! This move depicted his story in such a beautiful way! I’m crying writing this like the weird artist I am because I almost gave up but this movie inspired me to keep going! It was phenomenal!”
God Calling
Synopsis: Sade suffers a tragedy and encounters God in an unconventional way, which changes her family life and faith forever.
Promising Review: “I have to say that this is one of the very best movies I have seen in a long time, actually one of the best ever. It was so original, so heartfelt, and so full of inspiration and faith, even after suffering through tragedy. I’m getting old so at times it was hard for me to catch everything they were saying but even with that, I still felt I knew what was going on. The cast is great as well, made me cry, made me smile, and uplifted my soul, I absolutely would recommend this movie to anyone!”
Miracle in Cell No 7
Synopsis: Separated from his daughter, a father with an intellectual disability must prove his innocence when he is jailed for the death of a commander’s child.
Promising Review: “This film will make you laugh. This film will make you cry. Miracle in cell no.7 is a heart-warming story about the relationship between a 6-year-old girl and her mentally challenged father whose accused and convicted of a crime he didn’t commit. The characters look eccentric yet enchanting thanks to their mesmerizing performance. An immensely satisfying family drama that will leave most of its viewers with a smile on their faces & tears in their eyes.”
All the Bright Places
Synopsis: After meeting each other, two teenagers struggle with the emotional and physical scars of their pasts. They discover that even the smallest moments can mean something.
Promising Review: “A powerful movie in my opinion, of life, choices, circumstances and consequences. The actors’ portrayal of their characters were astounding. It goes to show us that there is darkness in life but also light, life and beauty. It is when we choose to harness the best aspects of that life that we see the light and beauty. Like the character Finch not many chose and took time to see the beauty, but those who did, appreciated it. It is an understatement today, when we say be mindful of how we speak, view and interact with each other, because we’re never truly aware of what’s happening with someone, even those closest to us unless we take the time, energy and effort. The film also seeks to address issues like self searching, self understanding and self acceptance. We are worthy of help love and all the beauty the world has to offer. I think it is definitely a movie to watch and re-watch at-least once!”
A Silent Voice
Synopsis: When a grade school student with impaired hearing is bullied mercilessly, she transfers to another school. Years later, one of her former tormentors sets out to make amends.
Promising Review: “I return to this film every once in a while just to rewatch and experience it again. (Yes, it is truly amazing!). This is an absolutely outstanding and beautiful movie, and there wasn’t a single moment or scene in which I lost interest. I am not a movie person, to say the least, but after hearing so much good stuff about it from others I decided to check it out. It keeps you hooked and the storyline is something so timeless and unique! What really resonated with me during my first time watching this film was the main character, Ishida’s, personality. Having a character in a movie who lives with anxiety and feels truly alone is something I could most definitely relate to. It makes you connect with the introduced characters right away, and I love how they put focus on each of their personalities, motives, and morals.”
Khabi Khushi Kabhie Gham
Synopsis: Rahul, the adopted older son of a rich couple, is banished by his father when he chooses to marry a middle-class woman. Years later, his younger brother, Rohan, sets out to find him.
Promising Review: “This is not a film but a heartwarming experience that must be undergone by each and every mother and son on this earth. It has a simple premise-a son reuniting his long-gone brother with his family. But, the way KJO brings out his own flair and transforms this into a fully blown-out Bollywood drama is really worth watching! With a simple script, gripping screenplay and excellent direction backed with amazing music, this drama is a must-watch!! It is a lifetime experience that cannot be digested even after watching 100s of times! A film so special and so close to the heart!!❤❤”
American Son
Synopsis: Time passes and tension mounts in a Florida police station as an estranged interracial couple awaits news of their missing teenage son.
Promising Review: As a mother of African American son’s, I felt EVERY emotion Kerry Washington played out in this movie. I cried throughout this entire movie, knowing that I have to be very intentional with their upbringing because they are black. As they evolve into young adults and witness daily that the reality of being black in America is risk to their life causes so much hurt. One could NEVER understand unless they experience it. The hurt of having to teach my son’s as early as 3 and continually for the rest of their lives how not to be (black), to survive because of their skin color is mentally & emotionally tiring. This movie hit home, the reality of what I live each and EVERY day as a black mother raising black son’s.
Guzaarish
Synopsis: Renowned former magician Ethan, now a quadriplegic, files a petition for euthanasia. While he awaits the verdict, Omar, a young magic enthusiast, convinces Ethan to pass on his legacy to him.
Promising Review: “This movie has a beautiful and magical message in it which will make the audience laugh a bit, cry and smile. Even though the plot was about the hopelessness of a man (Ethan) there was positivity on a different level throughout the movie. The man who was actually hopeless for himself and fought for his willful death simply smiled and motivated others around him, even in desire of death, he was laughing and cheerful. The ending was the best part, having all the people around him who loved him, cared for him, enjoyed his positiveness and being a part of his willingness to die even if it was not legally acceptable by the law.”
