Hubie Halloween
Synopsis: It’s October 31st in Salem, Massachusetts, and a town’s eccentric, devoted community volunteer and the good-natured object of his fellow citizen’s derision and meanest pranks, finds himself in the midst of a real investigation, for a real murderer.
Review:
A fun Halloween movie filled with enough laughable and spooky moments. Amazing cast! It’s always entertaining to see the usual Happy Gilmore cast, but the appearances of many favourite past Disney actors, Noah Schnapps (Stranger Things) and Adam Sandler’s daughters were definitely a treat! The emotional message at the end of the film, even with the humour, is definitely worth our attention. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
The Babysitter
Synopsis: A 12-year-old Cole finds out his beloved babysitter belongs to a murderous satanic cult of teenagers. Cole must put his crush for his babysitter aside and escape their grasp before they sacrifice him for personal gain.
Review: In all seriousness, I 10000000/10 recommend this movie. It does contain gory images such as huge gashes, body parts being blown up, big spiders lmao, soo many gunshot wounds, and swearing. But if you are okay with that, watch this movie!! It’s my all-time favourite movie (the sequel is good too though) and I could watch it with my best friends over and over again. We all love it. The storyline, comedy, twists, and just the right amount of gore/horror content makes this the best movie of all time. If you are a moderate horror lover this is for you, and if you aren’t WATCH IT ANYWAYS! You will 100% regret not seeing it sooner.
PS- This has a sequel that is just as good, if not better and you can watch it here on Netflix.
There’s Someone Inside Your House
Synopsis: After moving to live with her grandmother in Hawaii, a teenager must confront her past after fellow students at her school are murdered.
Review: 11/10. Definitely recommend it to others. I want another one tho! I would love to see where Makani and Ollie end up if there’s a second one. One of the best horror/thriller movies of 2021.
Corpse Bride
Synopsis: Victor (Johnny Depp) and Victoria’s (Emily Watson) families have arranged their marriage. Though they like each other, Victor is nervous about the ceremony. While he’s in a forest practising his lines for the wedding, a tree branch becomes a hand that drags him to the land of the dead. It belongs to Emily, who was murdered after eloping with her love and wants to marry Victor. Victor must get back aboveground before Victoria marries the villainous Barkis Bittern (Richard E. Grant).
Review: Wonderful and absolutely captivating. A visually beautiful film, and enthralling music. Super creative character design. You can tell how much work was put into it, and it pays off tremendously. I loved every second of it and will watch it many more times. One of my new favourites.
The Addams Family
Synopsis: When a man (Christopher Lloyd) claiming to be Fester, the missing brother of Gomez Addams (Raul Julia), arrives at the Addams’ home, the family is thrilled. However, Morticia (Anjelica Huston) begins to suspect the man is a fraud, since he cannot recall details of Fester’s life. With the help of lawyer Tully Alford (Dan Hedaya), Fester manages to get the Addams clan evicted from their home. Gomez realizes the two men are conspiring to swindle the Addams fortune and that he must challenge Fester.
Review: The Addams family films of the 90s were a big part of my childhood. So I was excited when I heard they were making a new one in animation. Personally, I loved this new film. The humour in this film is brilliantly levelled for children and adults. Each character clearly had time spent on them to bring the classic style of the 1930s comics back to life in 2019. The plot is easy to follow and although the end might feel rushed it works. My 6-year-old daughter came out of the cinema happy and with a new hero in one of the characters- Wednesday. I can’t speak for others but this film is a brilliant family film and I look forward to a sequel in the future.
A Nightmare On Elm Street
Synopsis: In Wes Craven’s classic slasher film, several Midwestern teenagers fall prey to Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund), a disfigured midnight mangler who preys on the teenagers in their dreams — which, in turn, kills them in reality. After investigating the phenomenon, Nancy (Heather Langenkamp) begins to suspect that a dark secret kept by her and her friends’ parents may be the key to unravelling the mystery, but can Nancy and her boyfriend Glen (Johnny Depp) solve the puzzle before it’s too late?
Review: I honestly love this movie, but the other old ones are still just as entertaining. Everyone did a really amazing job at their roles, especially Jackie. I know that there really is no replacement for Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger because he was a timeless actor with great commitment to his character and I was beyond impressed, but in this movie, I do believe that Jackie Earle Haley makes a very believable Freddy. The characters, the story, the feelings, the musical score, the mystery element, everything about this movie is captivating. I’ll never stop watching this movie again and again and again and again, but I’ll still keep watching the old movies as well.
PS- This is the 2010 remake of the 1984 movie.
The Curse Of Bridge Hollow
Synopsis: A man and his daughter must team up to save their town after an ancient and mischievous spirit causes Halloween decorations to come to life and wreak havoc.
Review: The movie is good. It’s an adventurous, horror and thriller movie. I will watch this movie again and again.
Fear Street
Synopsis: After a series of brutal slayings, a teen and her friends take on an evil force that’s plagued their notorious town for centuries.
Review: I will give this 4.5 stars. It’s not the best series of all time, but definitely very fun and worth watching!! I really enjoyed it. I loved the aesthetic of the films, and the plot was fun and quite original, with many unexpected twists. There were a few moments when I had to facepalm because the characters were being stupid, but let’s be honest if people in horror movies aren’t a bit dumb then we wouldn’t have horror movies. It was also great to see some more LGBTQ+ representation.
PS- Fear street has two sequels you can also watch here on Netflix
Eli
Synopsis: A boy becomes trapped in a haunted house while undergoing a mysterious doctor’s miraculous treatment for a rare disease.
Review: I love the movie. It has meaning and every scene is packed with intensity The ending was pretty amazing too. The actors performed really well and it was incredibly natural . Great movie with a great concept.
Incantation
Synopsis: Six years ago, Li Ronan is cursed after breaking a religious taboo; now, she must protect her daughter from the consequences of her actions.
Review: It was a good movie. I recommend watching with someone if you are easily scared because there are some jump scares although to me personally, it makes it better. Reading that it was based on a true story I definitely got the chills and I also searched it up if it was safe to watch and yes completely safe. Watch it at your own risk though. After watching it I have been hearing voices when I try to sleep.. Nah just playing but watch it FR it’s a good movie 🙂
Slender Man
Synopsis: Small-town best friends Hallie, Chloe, Wren and Katie go online to try and conjure up the Slender Man — a tall, thin, horrifying figure whose face has no discernible features. Two weeks later, Katie mysteriously disappears during a class trip to a historic graveyard. Determined to find her, the girls soon suspect that the legend of the Slender Man may be all too real.
Review: I’ve watched this movie and I love it. Yes, it’s a little corny but that’s what I like! I’m a big fan of Slenderman and the entire time I was watching it, I was fangirling about how well you all “made” Slenderman AND HIS HANDS. AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT LOVED THAT LITTLE DETAIL LIKE AAAAHHHHH and yes I expected jump scares BUT they still got me! Even trying to type my feelings for this movie is just coming out in emotional bursts of happiness. In short, I am so happy y’all made this movie. This is my favourite movie and will always be (unless y’all make a Slenderman 2- I’m just saying) but for real, I genuinely loved this movie.
Aftermath
Synopsis: Desperate to save their marriage, a young couple takes a deal and moves into their dream home, but disturbing events reveal the house’s troubled history.
Review: This movie is by far the best horror movie I’ve ever seen. It has an amazing storyline and I couldn’t be more shocked with how the movie ended. The acting was amazing and the suspenseful entertainment of the movie was consistent. Not once did I turn away from the tv to do something, I was glued to the movie curious to see what would happen next. I highly recommend it!!!
Child’s Play 3
Synopsis: It’s been years since Chucky, the doll with the soul and the voice (Brad Dourif) of a psychopathic killer, was apparently destroyed in a fire at a doll factory. Now Chucky’s manufacturer is remaking the same line of toys with the old, still haunted materials. This resurrects Chucky, who goes after Andy (Justin Whalin), his former owner, who now attends military school. Chucky slashes his way through a string of grotesque murders as Andy tries to stop the homicidal doll and the spirit within it.
Review: Personally my favourite Chucky movie. Chucky is still in pursuit of Andy (the boy from the last two movies) and finally tracks him down at kent military academy where he then changes targets and goes after a young African American boy. Junky entertainment works on a dark-humour level. Chucky still has his great one-liners and the violence is still pretty brutal but if you have nothing better to do it’s good for a late-night show or rainy afternoon. An 8 out of 10.
PS: THIS MOVIE WILL BE OFF NETFLIX AFTER THE 3IST OF OCTOBER
