Ever gone to the gym, spotted a hot man, and wondered what you needed to do to get his attention? Well, TikTok has a solution. Vabbing. Vabbing is short for “vagina dabbing” and like the name suggests, it means applying your vagina fluids to certain pressure points (wrists, neck, behind ears) on the body. TikToker Mandy Lee was the first to make a TikTok about it, and now a ton of other women on TiktTok are sharing stories of how men are falling for this unusual seduction tactic. But is there any truth to all these really?

How Does Vabbing At The Gym Work?

Vaginal fluids contain certain pheromones and the idea behind vabbing is that they can attract a ‘potential mate’. Wikipedia describes pheromones as; a secreted or excreted chemical factor that triggers a social response in members of the same species. Pheromones are chemicals capable of acting like hormones outside the body of the secreting individual, to affect the behaviour of the receiving individuals. It’s basically like a love perfume.

The power of pheromones is real and true but only in animals. It was once believed that the vomeronasal organ, which is the organ that allows mammals to sense pheromones in other mammals existed in humans too but further scientific research has made it clear that humans don’t possess that organ and so technically we can’t sense these pheromones.

Scientifically speaking, vabbing shouldn’t work. However, a couple of sex and relationship experts, believe that psychologically vabbing could work because, when you vab you have the belief that you are attracting people to you and so because of that you feel sexy, wanted, and confident, which can attract people to you.

Is Vabbing Harmful?

Vabbing in a lot of ways is relatively safe, if you follow certain guidelines.

  • Make sure you have clean hands before touching your vagina (wash them first).
  • Don’t let the places you vabbed on, touch other people.
  • Don’t vab while menstruating
  • If you have an STI or STD don’t vab.
  • If you happen to go to the gym, wipe surfaces down before and after you use them.
  • You don’t need too much vagina juices to vab.
  • If things don’t smell great down there, maybe go for a check-up and definitely avoid vabbing.

We’re not necessarily proponents of vabbing but if out of curiosity you decide to jump on the trend, you need to be careful and clean because bacteria getting in and out your vagina could give you, and people around you, an infection.
