4 Things You Can Do To Prevent Acne Scars

Acne can be frustrating, irritating and downright maddening. Much as you might try to avoid it, if you’re prone to acne you’ll find that despite your skin care routine, breakouts still find a way of … well… breaking out, all over your face and body. One of the most annoying things about acne are the scars that it leaves behind. And despite popular belief, you can have acne prone skin without plastering your face with war scars. Read on to find out how.

Don’t Pop Or Pick At Pimples

Popping pimples increases the likelihood of a permanent scar and prolongs the healing process. Avoid the urge to squeeze or pick at a pimple because by doing so, you risk pushing dirt further into the dermis, causing irritation and spreading an infection to nearby tissues. Especially if you happen to have cystic acne.

Treat Breakouts Immediately

Firstly, try to avoid most breakouts by getting more sleep, keeping hydrated, and changing your pillowcase more frequently amongst other things. As already mentioned a few breakouts will still occur here and there and when they do, you need to be proactive and deal with them immediately.

It’s crucial to keep up with upcoming breakouts and manage your acne if you want to avoid scarring. The acne you already have can be treated with products that contain salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide while helping you prevent further outbreaks.

Reduce Inflammation

Large, highly irritated pimples frequently result in deep acne scars. Discoloration and scarring may result from said irritation/inflammation. You can lessen the swelling and the visibility of acne scars by taking care not to irritate your skin when taking a shower or using skincare products. Additionally, apply topical spot creams/serums made specifically to lessen acne irritation.
