It Ends With Us is a romance novel layered with such intense hurt and pain you can feel the agony oozing through the pages. Our protagonist Lily hasn’t had the easiest life. Growing up with an abusive father will do that. He hurt her and her mother so bad she couldn’t muster up even a trickle of sympathy when she had to attend his funeral. Lily wasn’t free from her father’s abuse until she finally went to college. After his death, she came into some inheritance and started the flower shop business she had always wanted to open. Somewhere along the line, she meets a neurosurgeon she can’t get out of her head and she comes to learn that he feels the same way.
Ryle is a stubborn and slightly arrogant surgeon who has his own demons to fight. For reasons we learn later in the novel, he has a disturbing aversion to relationships. However, he never imagined Lily could have the pull she did. That was until he couldn’t leave her alone. Soon enough they both found themselves in a relationship and faster than anyone wanted, especially Lily, Ryle’s demons started spilling out of their tightly locked cages.
This book is loved completely and irrevocably by millions across the world. It was #1 on the Publishers Weekly adult list and #1 overall in the first six months of 2022, selling a total of 925,221 units. It was also #1 on the Publisher Weekly annual list, selling a total of 2,729,007 copies. It Ends With Us had over one billion tags on TikTok. Colleen Hoover, its author, is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of twenty-four novels and novellas. I can’t remember the first Collen Hoover book I read but I remember hunting for as many as I could get after that first book. I couldn’t get enough of her. When I picked up It Ends With Us I literally couldn’t put it down. It hurt like few things do because I never saw the pain coming. Not this kind. And I never thought I could fully and truly pity an abuser the way I did.
After winning the Goodreads Choice Award for Best Romance and garnering the fan base it has, It Ends With Us is arguably Hoover’s most popular book and to the delight of most fans, it’s getting its own movie!! When I first heard this I was speechless as I’m sure other fans were. I could barely contain my joy but I was a bit apprehensive. I kept saying, ‘ I hope they don’t f***k this up’. Imagine my surprise when they reveal that Blake Lively has been cast as Lily. She is a spectacular actress that ALWAYS delivers. It made me think ‘Well, if they ruin the plot, at least we have her’.

Here’s Everything We Know About The Movie So Far
- We don’t exactly know if the movie will follow the plot of the book but seeing as it’s an adaptation we bet a good chunk of the book will be featured in the movie.
- So far four casts have been confirmed; Blake Lively as Lily, Brandon Sklenar as Atlas Corrigan, Jenny Slate as Allysa and Justin Baldoni as Ryle.
- Personally, I think the two male leads should switch characters. I’m not sure why, but Justin Baldoni just screams Atlas to me.
- There is no current announcement of the It Ends With Us movie release date. However, seeing as the sequel, It Starts With Us was released this year it makes sense that the producers would want to capitalise on the fame and traction and release the movie either in late 2023 or sometime in 2024.
- A few days ago, some pictures and videos were released of Blake Lively on the set of It Ends With Us. Ever since fans have been raving about how much they hate her look. A fan left a comment on an E! News post on. She said, “I guess I missed the part in the book where Lily is homeless”.
- Though I might be the only one to say this, I’m sort of in love with Blake as Lily’s look. It’s weird as hell but I think she rocks it! I’ve always liked weird fashion though so question my tastes.

- We don’t know if the movie will be initially released in theatres or if it will be available on a streaming service because the film is currently in the development stage. However, fingers crossed we get to see it on Netflix.
- There currently is no teaser or movie trailer out, but we can barely sit still waiting for it.

- Backstage, the world’s best casting website and largest career platform for performers revealed on the 25th of April that casting is underway for It Ends With Us and production is looking for a Caucasian female that is about 5’9”-5’11”, has blonde or strawberry blonde hair and is fully aware that nudity will be required.
